Cipro Now a No Go

~ by Yael Joshua

If you need to target hardy bacteria, heavy-duty antibiotics such as Cipro, Levaquin, and Floxin are your best bet. Unfortunately, these drugs, all based on fluoroquinolone, have been shown to cause pain, swelling, and inflammation in tendons, sometimes leading to ruptures and other incapacitating injuries.

Because of these findings, the FDA now requires the entire fluoroquinolone drug family to carry a black box warning – the strongest level possible – informing those taking it that they should stop immediately if they develop any problems with their tendons.
