Study: Painful Injuries & Work-Related Pain
Know Which Profession Rates Quite High in Number of Painful Injuries & Work-Related Pain?
The surprising answer is – musicians! Similar to athletes, musicians make intensive demands on their bodies, playing their instruments for hours at a time, day after day, year after year, with complex, fast movements. And since as we all know, “The show must go on”, professional musicians usually play through their pain. They also may experience numbness or other symptoms.
Physical therapy is key to relieving some of these issues. Have a PT watch how you play your instrument, and the therapist will advise you on how to hold your instrument to reduce pain and stress. He/she can also suggest exercises that will strengthen and stretch the muscles that are causing pain.
